Looking at a property listing with 50+ photos has always been a mixed blessing. On one hand, more photos mean better insights into a property. On the other hand, finding the specific rooms you care about most often means clicking through dozens of images, hoping to land on that perfect kitchen shot or spacious bedroom.
That changes today.
We’re excited to announce the launch of our AI-powered property photo classification feature—a technology that automatically identifies and categorizes every image in a property listing. Whether it’s a gourmet kitchen, luxurious bathroom, or stunning aerial view, our AI instantly knows what each photo shows and organizes them accordingly.
The classification system uses machine learning to analyze property photos and predict what room or area each image shows. Each classification includes a room/area type and a confidence score indicating how confident the AI is in its classification.
Our AI has been trained to recognize 28 different room and area types, from the basics like bedrooms and kitchens to specialized spaces like wine cellars and exercise rooms. The system analyzes each image and provides:
The complete list includes everything from aerial views and front-of-structure shots to walk-in closets and game rooms, ensuring no space goes unrecognized.
We understand that accuracy matters in real estate. The system provides confidence scores between 0 and 1, with classifications above 0.90 considered reliable for most use cases, and scores above 0.95 indicating very high confidence suitable for automatic labeling.
This means the technology works intelligently in the background, surfacing highly confident classifications while gracefully handling edge cases where images might not fit standard categories.
The best part? This feature integrates seamlessly with existing workflows. Classifications are included in the imageInsights object within our real estate API responses, making it simple for developers to incorporate room-based photo organization into their applications.
Whether you’re building a consumer-facing property search app or an agent-focused listing management tool, the photo classification data integrates naturally with your existing systems.
This launch represents more than just smarter photo organization—it’s a glimpse into the future of property technology. By applying AI to solve real problems that buyers, renters, and agents face every day, we’re making the entire property search and listing process more efficient and enjoyable.
From the home buyer who wants to quickly compare kitchen spaces across multiple properties, to the listing agent who needs to organize hundreds of photos for a luxury property portfolio, AI-powered classification delivers immediate value to everyone in the real estate ecosystem.
